FAQ: How To Get Notified of Hot Sony Deals

We hope to answer many of the frequently asked questions about our e-mail notification feature!

How do I get notified about the best Sony Deals?

There are two notification mechanisms at SonyPriceWatch.com:

  1. The first is a blog post notification, where you get e-mailed whenever a post is made on the main page blog.
  2. The second is a product notification, where you get e-mailed whenever an item goes in-stock below your target price (either new, used, or refurbished).

Sign up for both. If you’re interested in a particular item, be sure to sign up for a specific notification on it — not just the blog post notification — and you’ll get e-mailed automatically when we see a deal.

Even if you’re only interested in one item, we recommend signing up for the blog post notifications as well. Or you might miss out on the next big unexpected deal or sale.

How do I sign up for blog post notifications?

You can click the ‘Notify’ button on the main page, right above the first blog post. A window will pop-up; enter your e-mail address, press the button, and press the button again to confirm. That’s it!

You can also subscribe to our RSS feed, follow on Twitter, or like us on Facebook as well — the same deals will get posted across social media.

If you have any problems, or aren’t receiving the e-mails, please don’t hesitate to contact us.

How do I sign up for product notifications?

On any product’s page (e.g. Alpha a7 III) there is a ‘Notify’ button under the description of the item (next to the picture). You can press this button to pop up a dialog box.

The dialog box will allow you to sign-up for 4 types of notifications:

  • A notification when the item is in-stock at an authorized dealer below your target price.
  • A notification when the item is in-stock at any dealer (unauthorized or grey) below your target price.
  • A notification when the item is available used or refurbished below your target price.
  • A notification when the item is available for pre-order (new items only).

For each notification type you can set the desired target price, or disable this notification completely. If this is your first notification, you’ll be asked to confirm.

To find a product’s page, you can either find it via the search box in the upper right, or the Sony Price List.

If you have any problems, or aren’t receiving the e-mails, please don’t hesitate to contact us.

How does it work, and how fast are the e-mails sent?

Product notification e-mails are automatically sent seconds after we detect the lower price or availability in used/refurbished. A specific product notification is the best way to get in on a deal!

For popular items we’ll detect price changes within minutes, and for the majority of Sony items we’ll detect a price change in about half an hour.

Blog post notifications are sent after we write a blog post. But since a real human is involved in writing the blog posts, this can take some time, even though we have some of the fastest deal editors around.

Especially when a big deal has started, it can take a few minutes to get all the e-mails out (we’re just a small website with an even smaller webserver). Also, when we send out thousands of e-mails, many mail providers may delay or slow down mail acceptance to make sure it’s not spam — when a huge, across-the-board deal starts, it may take 10-15 minutes longer than usual to get notifications.

How many e-mails will I receive?

For blog post notifications, you’ll receive one e-mail per post; we average about one post a day.

For product notifications, you’ll receive an e-mail only if the price drops below what you were previously notified at; after which you won’t be re-notified for five days.

How do I unsubscribe?

At the bottom of the e-mails is a link to page of the item that generated the notification; clicking this, then clicking the Notify button again will bring up options to unsubscribe.

How can I support this service?

Thanks for asking! You can support the site by buying through the links on our site. Many of the links are affiliate links and we’ll receive a small amount from the retailer when you complete your order. Don’t worry, there’s no extra cost to you.
